Compassionate Dementia Care
When it comes to delivering exceptional dementia care with love and a deep sense of compassion, the amazing people who form our Honey Lane team, in Waltham Abbey, are everything.
Led by Qualified Dementia Interpreter, Angie Sacks, we care exclusively for residents living with memory loss and dementia. Our home is registered to support residents aged both under and over 65, including those living with early-onset dementia. We provide personalised care in a warm, understanding environment where each individual is valued, respected, and supported to live life as fully and meaningfully as possible.
The depth of our specialist dementia knowledge goes way beyond our training and awareness of each person’s medical and physical needs. Whilst these are crucial elements to ensure we are able to provide good care, it is our detailed understanding of who each special individual is now, who they were, and what hopes and dreams they have for their future that enables us to provide exceptional care.
It’s knowing who and what are the most important things in their life, how they enjoy spending their day, what their favourite food is, what brings a smile to their face when they’re feeling a little down, and what fills them with a sense of joy and belonging which last way beyond a moment in time.
Involving and supporting families
Before someone comes to live with us, and then regularly reviewed throughout the year, we develop a detailed plan in partnership with the individual and those closest to them. This plan documents a resident’s personalised care needs, life history, likes and dislikes and future goals and underpins our skilled team members’ exceptional care and support.
As we wholeheartedly believe families and friends are an integral part of our home, they are welcome to visit at any time and to play an active part in their loved ones’ lives. We also provide a range of support to family members, running regular carer events and being on hand to listen and offer expert advice whenever you need us.
Gone are the days where relatives have to juggle the demands of their own busy lives as well as the care and support needs of their loved one. When a person comes to live with us, their family no longer needs to worry about the laundry, ensuring they have nutritious meals, have remembered to take their medication and how they will live a fulfilling and happy life.
We take care of everything giving you time to pop in for a spot of lunch or home-baked treat in our dining room, take part in one of our many activities together or celebrate a special occasion. There is an array of opportunities and ways to spend quality time together whilst our dedicated team takes care of everything else.
A home for life
We work closely with a wealth of community and clinical professionals to ensure our residents’ care needs are met. These include district nurses, GPs, opticians and chiropodists.
As someone’s care needs change, we’re there to review what they need so they can continue living their lives feeling safe and contented. We provide low, medium and high-dependency residential support for residents, which includes administering medication. Residents can transition easily as their needs change, making our Waltham Abbey care home a happy place in which to spend their later years.
