Karen’s career began in 1995 when, as mum to three young children, she took her first job as a carer in a nursing home. In the intervening years, Karen has gained a wealth of experience working with and then managing teams caring for older people. Since 2010, Karen has been the Registered Home Manager of Honey Lane – returning to Waltham Abbey, where she was born and raised.
Karen’s warmth and passion for caring for people with dementia shines throughout our happy home. She loves spending time with residents’ and their families, whilst supporting all of our team to provide loving care for everyone who lives with us.
When not looking after our residents, Karen, along with her partner Dave, are busy renovating a river boat cruiser, their second nautical makeover project. Karen can be found soaking up the sun on the Norfolk Broads whenever she gets the chance! She also enjoys video calling her grandchildren, Maddison, Kayden and Nevaeh, who live in America.
Karen has a Diploma in Leadership in Person-Centred Dementia Care and is a Dementia Trainer for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Speaking about Honey Lane Karen said: “I love my job and I love Honey Lane. I have a fantastic team of people around me, who along with our residents, are all part of one big family.”
