Here is what the Care Quality Commission (CQC) said about our home:

  • People at the service receive individualised care from a staff team who show exceptional knowledge of their needs. People’s care is centred on achieving the best possible life for them.
  • There are excellent interactions between people and staff that promote their interests. All staff work extremely hard to provide activities that are meaningful to people.
  • There are established links with the local community, whereby schoolchildren visit regularly to read to people and do arts and crafts. In turn, residents are invited to school concerts and celebrations.
  • The service holds a monthly creche in which people spend time with babies and children up to five years old. A relative commented: “The activity organisers have fantastic ideas and they think outside the box.” Another added: “There’s always something going on here – the staff are great!”
  • Activities within the home are extremely person-centred. Staff treat people with kindness, dignity and respect and spend time getting to know them and their specific needs and wishes.
  • One relative said: “Staff are extremely effective and caring.” Another added: “Staff are kind, I love them all.”
  • Staff have an awareness people should be encouraged to do as much as they can themselves. One team member said: “No matter what stage of dementia people are at, we encourage them to be independent. We take a step back so they can do it themselves.”
  • People are given choices throughout the day. Staff have a good understanding of how to support people to make day to day decisions.
  • The service is consistently managed and well-led. It is clear the management team strive to promote high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Staff are knowledgeable about how to provide good quality end of life care and speak with a clear emphasis about providing support, not just to the person receiving care, but also to their family, before and after the person passes away.
